I get asked this question so many times – it seems to be the number one question each new person that I meet wants to know! How did I get into this? How did I make a career out of it? Why would I want to do this forever?
If we are being totally honest, I can’t pinpoint a moment in time that I was like “Oh my gosh- this is what I was made to do” – I feel like photography has always been a part of me. From looking at old photos on my grandma’s lap, to watching my godfather’s photography career, to having my camera in hand taking thousands of pictures of nothing – it feels like it is such an integral part of who I am.
To this day one of my most favorite things to do is sit on my parents couch and look thru old photos. They have totes and totes of photos that go back to when my great grandma was a little girl – you know the old 2×2 black & white photos. Holding those photos in my hands & hearing the stories that go along with them give me such a sense of belonging, of history, and of love. It truly amazes me the power a single photo can hold. How it can transport you back to a certain time and bring back all the feelings like it just happened yesterday!!
I never planned on doing this as a career – I had been told over and over that it was a nice hobby but would never be able to be my job. So I planned to always do this as a part-time thing. I figured that I’d be a grown up and have a “real job”. I can’t complain about that original plan, it turns out Photography is quite an expensive hobby to have, and my “real job” paid for it! Luckily, my schedule allowed me to photograph nearly full time- but in 2017 I finally made the jump to do photography full time!!! It has been a wild ride – but I am so insanely BLESSED to be able to do what I love! ❤️
So why do I want to do this forever? Heck yea- how could I not?!?!
I love that I am able to freeze moments for my clients – it still amazes me that I get the privilege of being there for some of the biggest moments of their lives! I have been there to capture smiles, tears, and more love than I can ever explain! I have even had the amazing opportunity to photograph a few of my clients for their senior photos, their wedding, boudoir, and onto becoming a mother (talk about making a girl feel old lol)!! I am insanely blessed to be able to follow my passion – and I could not do it without every single one of you!! Thank you for supporting me & being a part of this amazing adventure ❤️
